About Kedarnath temple Kedarnath is a small temple town in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. It is situated in the Himalayas, 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) north of the town of Rudraprayag and is one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located at an altitude of 3,583 metres (11,769 ft),[1] and is a part of the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage. The town suffered extensive damage in the 2013 North India floods and is currently under reconstruction. The temple is open from April to November.
