Tsomgo Lake-38 km from Gangtok and at an altitude of 12,400 ft, the ethereally beautiful Tsomgo Lake is a must on every visitor’s itinerary. A winding road through rugged mountain terrain and sharp cliffs takes you to Tsomgo, which means source of the water in Bhutia language. The lake derives its water from the melting snows of the mountains surrounding the lake. Of legendary beauty, the lake looks different at different seasons. In winter the placid lake remains frozen with the area around it covered in snow while in late spring the profusion of flowers in bloom adds a riot of colours around the lake. Baba Mandir-Located between Nathula and Jelepla pass at an altitude of 13,123 ft and about 52kms from Gangtok, Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple is popularly known as Baba Mandir. One usually covers this temple along with a visit to Tsongmo Lake and Nathula Pass. There is a touching story associated with this temple. Harbhajan Singh was a Sentry of Punjab Regiment and was posted here as part of border patrol force. The border with China is nearby. In October 1968 he disappeared. It is said that while escorting mules carrying provisions, he fell into a stream and drowned. After a few days he reappeared in the dreams of one of his sentry colleagues and asked him to make a memorial here on his name. (Additional Cost)Nathula -Nathu La, one of the highest motorable roads in the world, is a mountain pass in the Himalayan peaks that co-joins Sikkim and China. Situated on the Indo-Tibetan border 14450 ft. above sea level, Nathu La is one of the most important Himalayan passes in the country. Nathu means 'listening ears', and La means 'pass'. Nathu La is one of the three open trading border posts between India and China and is famous for its picturesque beauty and beautiful environment. The temperature here remains low for most parts. In case of Landslide or Due to any other reasons if Tsomgo Lake is closed then an Alternate Sightseeing will be provided. Nathula is closed on Monday & Tuesday for Tourist. Lachung -about 118kms from Gangtok in North Sikkim, is situated at an altitude of 8,858 ft. Also known as the 'Small Pass', Lachung is embraced by snow capped mountain peaks, breathtaking waterfalls, sparkling streams and apple orchards, also peaches and apricots. The market of this city is filled with handicrafts such as exquisitely woven rugs and blankets that make this town ideal for shopping sprees. The residents of Lachung who are mostly Bhutias call themselves Lachungpas. Yumthang Valley- About 25kms from Lachung, at an altitude of 11,800 ft, lies the Yumthang Valley. As the tree line ends, a vast stretch of valley exposes a dense area filled with Rhododendrons in different colours like purple, red, blue, pink, etc. The view is captivating and looks as if it’s taken out of a painting. Mt. Katao-Located in the northern part of Sikkim, almost 144 kilometres from the capital, Gangtok, and 28 kms from Lachung, Mt. Katao is amongst the most spectacular sights you can imagine in the state. However, one has to avail permits from the army to enter the area where this majestic peak is located. This surreal mountain offers the onlookers a splendid view. Zero Point-With super freezing temperatures at an altitude of 15,300 ft, Zero Point is really like heaven where one can get the most magnificent views.
