Begin your visit to Ninh Binh with a boat trip in Tam Coc, where you can see limestone karsts emerging from green paddy fields, giving the scenery the name "Halong-bay-on-land." This scenery is reminiscent of Guilin in China and Halong Bay in Vietnam. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Ninh Binh. After lunch, we continue to explore Bich Dong Pagoda. Time to go back to Hanoi, and in the way stop to visit Hoa Lu, which used to be the kings' palace in the 10th century and is now famous for the wooden reliefs of the shady Dinh and Le temples. Late in the afternoon, return to Hanoi for overnight stay in Hanoi.
Have breakfast in the hotel and then check out. We depart at 9am and head East for a 3-hour drive to Halong Bay.
