Magnificent Vietnam

Welcome to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Upon arrival, the local tour guide will greet you and bring you to downtown. Check into your hotel. Afternoon, visit Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi's largest square, which hosts all of the city's largest cultural and political events, including demonstrations. Begin our tour with the Ho Chi Minh Complex, which includes the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (only accessible from the exterior because it closes in the afternoon), Ho Chi Minh's residence on stilts, his fish pond, and the One-Pillar Pagoda. The Temple of Literature is considered Vietnam's first university. Later, we get an overview of the capital by riding a cyclo for an hour around Hanoi's Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake (the "Sword" Lake). From here, wander around the Old Quarter's small streets to get a sense of the locals' daily lives. Transfer back to your hotel. Overnight in Hanoi

Have breakfast at the hotel. A 90-kilometer drive south of Hanoi will take you to Ninh Binh, the site of Vietnam's only capital city before Hanoi took over in the eleventh century. The area has many well-known sights, including the Tam Coc Caves and Hoa Lu ancient capital, which has antique temples related to King Dinh and King Le, who reigned in the 10th century. The tour to Ninh Binh begins with a boat trip to Tam Coc, where beautiful limestone karsts stick out from the green paddy fields, reminiscent of Guilin (China) and Vietnam's Halong Bay, hence the term "Halong-bay-on-land". Lunch at a nearby eatery. Visit Bich Dong Pagoda to continue your exploration of Ninh Binh. Drive back to Hanoi in the afternoon, stopping along the route to visit Hoa Lu, which was once the kings' residence in the 10th century and is today famous for the wooden reliefs of the shaded Dinh and Le Temples. In the evening, return to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi

Breakfast at the hotel, then checkout. At 9 a.m., drive east for three hours to Halong Bay, the glory of the Gulf of Tonkin and a Natural World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO in 1994 and 2006. The road will pass through the Red River delta, which is covered in verdant paddyfields and rural communities where farmers are ploughing buffaloes and sowing seedlings. When you arrive in Halong, board an overnight cruise to see the breathtaking splendor of this "Descending-dragon" bay, which is made up of hundreds of odd-shaped limestone cliffs and karst grottoes. After lunch on board, we can visit the Grottos, go swimming or kayaking, pass floating dwellings, and approach islets to admire their beauty up close. Return to the boat for a cookery demonstration before dinner. Evening: participate in boat activities or relax at your leisure. The cruise includes an overnight stay

Wake up early to take in the sunrise over the water. The Vietnamese refer to the "East Sea" by the point-oriented moniker "Eastern Sea," so you can imagine how magical it is to witness the sunrise over the Bay's islets. After breakfast, our boat will continue to sail through breathtaking locations, where practically every islet has its own name based on its shape or resemblance, such as Sail Island, Fisherman's Head Rock, Butterfly Rock, or Turtle islet, among others. Check out and have brunch on board as the ship returns to the pier. Disembark from the boat and transfer back to Hanoi. Check into the hotel. Spending time at leisure. Overnight in Hanoi
