• Dwarkadish Temple : Shri Dwarkadhish Temple is one of the oldest and majorly renowned Hindu shrines of Mathura and is located towards the northern edge. The temple is dedicated to Lord Dwarkanath, an incarnation of Lord Krishna, who was also the king of Dwarka (hence the name Dwarkadheesh). The idol is beautifully carved in black marble. The temple was constructed in 1815 by Seth Gokuldas Parikh, an affluent treasurer of the province Gwalior. Along with being one of the most sacred places in the city, the temple is also an architectural marvel with massive pillars and colorful floral designs. Devotees are requested to wear modest attires while visiting the temple.   • Krishna Janmasthan Temple : One of the most revered shrines in north-India dedicated to Lord Krishna, the Krishna Janmasthan Temple in Mathura attracts pilgrims from all over the country. The temple is built around the prison cell where Lord Krishna was born while his parents were confined by his evil uncle Kansa, King of Mathura. The shrine receives a huge number of pilgrims every year which multiplies manifold during the time of festivals. The present-day temple complex is fairly new and modernized where the visitors would find idols and paintings depicting the life and events of Lord Krishna along with his beloved Radha and brother Balrama.
