    Aurangabad is a historic city in the Maharashtra state of India. The city is a tourist hub, surrounded by many historical monuments, including the Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as Bibi Ka Maqbara and Panchakki.   Grieshneshwar Jyotrling Grishneshwar is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva situated at Ellora. Here the Lord is worshipped in his manifestation as Jyoti (light) and the idol is in the form of a linga. Grishneshwar temple (also known as Ghrneshwar Jyotirlinga or Dhushmeshwar temple) dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the twelve Jyothirlinga shrines sacred to Hindu. The word Ghrneshwar means "lord of compassion".   Ellora Caves The Ellora Caves not only bear witness to three great religions (Buddhism, Brahminism and Jainism) but they also illustrate the spirit of tolerance, characteristic of ancient India, which permitted these three religions to establish their sanctuaries and their communities in a single place, which thus served to ...   Bibbi Ka Makbra Situated about 3 km from the city is Bibi Ka Maqbara, the burial place of Aurangzeb's wife, Rabia-ud-Durrani. It is an imitation of the Taj at Agra, and, due to its similar design, it is popularly known as the Mini Taj of the Deccan.   Panchakki Panchakki is one of the most attractive sights in Aurangabad city, which is often visited by world tourists who are deeply impressed by its elaborate water works. It particularly has a sheet of water flowing perennially, and setting the large iron blades and stones of flour mill to motion.

    Kailasa Temple A megalith carved from a cliff face, it is considered one of the most remarkable cave temples in the world because of its size, architecture, and sculptural treatment. It has been called "the climax of the rock-cut phase of Indian architecture".   Daulatabad Fort Daulatabad Fort is a fortified citadel located atop a conical hill in Aurangabad, about 200 meters above the sea level. Its strategic location, incredible architecture, and three-layer defense system made it one of the most powerful hill fortresses of the medieval period.   Siddharth Garden  Zoo The garden was established in the 20th century and named after Gautama Buddha, whose birth name was Siddhartha. The idea was to create a serene landscape that offers both locals and tourists a place to relax amidst nature and the bustling city life.   Aurangabad Caves Aurangabad caves are dedicated to Buddhism and it is situated in the north of the city in Sihyachal ranges. These monuments are more than 2000 years old and are taken care of by the Archaeological Survey of India. The most notable structure in this cave is the sculpture of Bodhisattva.   Gulmandi Market Amongst all the famous and well-known ones, Gul Mandi is the largest bazaar in Aurangabad. Trading of the famous Himroo shawls and saree takes place here. Himroo is known for its cloth & the intricate designs inspired by peacocks, flowers, etc from the caves of Ajanta & Ellora.
