Kasauli

KasauliView Gallery - 6
Situated at an altitude of 1,793 metres (5,889 ft). Kasauli is a cantonment town, founded in 1842 by the British. It is a hill station in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh and is a popular tourist destination. The town is spread out over a ridge of hills and is a mix of colonial-era cottages and modern buildings. From many places in the town, there are splendid views of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges, which is an absolute treat to the eyes.

Kasauli was originally known as Kuchipura, which means "City of Flowers". It is said that the name was changed to Kasauli because a British official was not able to pronounce Kuchipura correctly. The first Europeans to settle in Kasauli were the missionaries. They came in the mid-19th century to spread Christianity to the local population. Kasauli slowly began to grow in popularity as a tourist destination in the early 20th century. This was largely due to the efforts of the British Raj officials who had made Shimla their summer capital. The first hotel in Kasauli was built in 1858. It was called the Kasauli Club, and it still exists today. Kasauli was officially declared a tourist destination in 1953.

However, there are an array of spots and places that will make you want to stay in this place for longer. Either it be witnessing the sunrise over the hills of Kasauli or the view from Sunset Point in Kasauli, the place will rejuvenate you with its absolute natural palate. In Kausali, attractions such as Christ Church, the Gilbert Trail, Monkey Point, and the Kasauli Brewery will provide you with a favourite pastime.
