Assam's Sivasagar town held a Yoga Utsav to mark the 50th anniversary of the International Day of Yoga. The Yoga festival drew over ten thousand participants from several Northeastern states. All of the prominent politicians from the Northeastern states attended the event, including Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and several MPs from the region.
Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) was in charge of the event, which was organised by the Ministry of Ayush. Thora Dol, Rudrasagar Dol, Ronghar, Tolatol Ghar, Kareng Ghar, and Joydol were among the seven locations where it took place. All of these locations are historically important in the community.
As hundreds of people from all across the Northeastern states gathered in Sivasagar to practise yoga, Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal remarked, "This event today underlines our ongoing endeavour to put the iconic historical sites of Assam on the tourism map of the globe."
The major goal was to encourage as many individuals as possible to practise Yoga. Yoga is a magnificent gift from hundreds of years of civilisation, according to the Minister.
Soon after, the Minister took to Twitter, saying, "Sivasagar is one of India's most famous archaeological regions." The #50DaysToIDY2022 event will aid in the unlocking of our tourism sector's massive potential and help us become Vocal for Local.
