Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (I/C), performed yoga with other officials of Ministries of Culture and Tourism as well as yoga experts and yoga fans at the Red Fort in Delhi on the occasion of the seventh International Day of Yoga yesterday.
Patel, along with other ministers, led the drive “Yoga, An Indian Heritage” as a division of the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaign, organised at 75 cultural heritage spots with active participation from all bodies of the Ministry to memorialize 75 years of Independence. Considering the current Covid-19 pandemic situation, the number of participants for Yoga was not more than 20 at each site.
The minister said that Yoga is our greatest heritage and with the help of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of having popularized this mantra and giving it an appraisal. He concluded by saying that IDY 2021 is being celebrated as a part of Amrit Mahotsav to mark 75 years of Independence. He urged the youth to take up yoga to live a healthy and peaceful life.
Yoga protocol was taken up under the guidance of Acharya Pratishtha. Many senior officials of the ministry joined this drive as well.
