In Kolkata's famous General Post Office building, the Indian Postal Department has opened a new cafe. Siuli, the eatery, has been opened to function as a philatelic ancillary shop.
It will be handled by the in-house catering department and will be the country's first post office cafe. According to sources, the cafe will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Previously, the GPO had a small staff canteen in one corner of the hall, with the rest of the hall serving as a counter for philatelic ancillaries such as coasters, cushions, brass plates, stamps, and mugs, which will remain to be sold by in-house staff at the café.
In response, Niraj Kumar, Postmaster-General of Kolkata Region, remarked that the cafe is not ornamental and that it includes fully functional parcel booking booths. He went on to say that the cafe's goal is to strengthen relationships with the present generation and that it is a step toward people's betterment.
The brilliantly coloured sofa sets and wooden furniture are the focal points of this 1,450-square-foot post office cafe.
The area was also recently renovated to give it a more modern feel. Plus, this location will be a shopper's paradise as well as a place to gorge on delicious food. T-shirts, cups, trinkets, and much more will be available for purchase.
