The Jammu and Kashmir government is all ready to turn adventure tourism on a big scale at a major spot, Jammu, as officials declared on Saturday. The suburb offers access to several adventure activities, from the marvellous foothills of Jammu to the sky rising mountains and trails of Kishtwar, the serene lakes and rich flora of Rajouri- Poonch and the beautiful meadows of Bhaderwah and Patnitop.

In an advisory meeting with the officials, numerous experts from various fields and reputed institutes across India, including the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering and Winter Sports, Pahalgam, National Institute of Water Sports, Goa, and Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, Gwalior, planned on following various safety measures before the initiation of any adventure activity.

They asked to ensure all quality equipment and safety measures, properly trained staff and training and employment of local youth as well.

Jammu is already a famous pilgrimage destination but the adventure part is still unexplored. There would be many sports taken up in the field of trekking, rafting, hiking, paragliding, parasailing, camping, ziplining and skiing under the guidance of skilled experts.
There would be various trials conducted by experts as well, to finalise the course of action.

Apart from the heritage trek, the authorities are also planning to add mountain biking routes from Mansar to Surinsar, the Bani-Basohli-Bhaderwah-Jai Valley and Atal Setu bridge to Purthu.
