STREET - Sustainable, Tangible, Responsible, Experiential, Ethnic Tourism – is a concept designed by Kerala Tourism to revamp the state's tourism and bring a variety of new activities within experiential tourism. There are ten STREET projects in the pipeline, with Maravanthuruthu Water Street being the first to be created by Kerala Tourism as part of its Responsible Tourism Mission Kerala initiative. In this endeavour, the Local Self Governments play a crucial role. The goal of these STREET projects is to add fresh and fascinating experiences to the state's existing list of attractions. The goal is to advance experience tourism.
Maravanthuruthu Water Street - a water street festival – is the first phase in Kerala Tourism's plan to promote Maravanthuruthu into a sustainable and experience tourism destination.
The Responsible Tourism Mission Kerala, in collaboration with local panchayats, cleaned and revitalised a total of 18 canal networks and three rivers to make this water STREET experience feasible. On the canals, there will be kayaking and night safari adventures.
Tourism is expected to reach more venues and customers as a result of these STREET programmes. Another advantage is that it incorporates more lesser-known sites into the image. Green Street, Cultural Street, Ethnic Cuisine Street, Village Experiential Tourism, and Art Street, to name a few, are among the numerous themes explored in the STREET initiative.
