Gujarat will soon be home to a safari park with eight zoo-bred tigers, including four cubs. According to reports, a tiger escaped into Mahisagar district from Madhya Pradesh in February 2019, after roaming for roughly 300 kilometres over the period of two years. The tiger, however, died after a fortnight of starvation.
As per reports, the forest advisory committee approved an 85-hectare tiger safari park at Tilakwada in the Narmada district a few months before this tiger was discovered, but it was ultimately dropped. According to a senior forest official, the original idea was to establish a park near Tilakwada, which is 25 kilometres from the Statue of Unity. They later opted to build a zoological park alternatively, which will house exotic animals from all over the world in order to enhance tourism at the site. As a result, the notion of a safari park was shelved, according to the official.
However, the land at Dang has been cleared for a leopard safari park, while the officials have altered their minds and approved a tiger safari park, according to the source.
As per the newest offer, a consultant will be hired to put up a project plan for roughly 28.96 acres of land in Jharkhand and Jobari villages in Ahwa-Dangs.
According to the department's plans, the tiger safari park will include a leopard cage, an aviary, and a herbivore paddock. As per rumours, the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has already approved the project.
The idea is still in the early stages, according to Chief Forest Conservator Maniswara Raja, who is also in charge of the park. He also stated that similar to the lion safari park in Devaliya, they will bring zoo-bred animals to the tiger safari park.
