The Goa government has shifted its focus to promoting eco-tourism. This development plan will include the state's forests and forest parks.
Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, Molem Wildlife Sanctuary, and Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary are the six wildlife sanctuaries in Goa. Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem National Park are the only national parks in the state. Various wildlife parks will undergo infrastructural improvements as well as the establishment of safe camping spots and jungle pathways for visitors as part of this initiative.
The new plans will focus on providing visitors to these parks with a complete wildlife experience, which will involve seeing wild creatures.
The Goan hinterlands include several wooded areas. Hinterland, for those unfamiliar, is a location away from the coast, any major river, or a densely inhabited area. These are generally dense woodlands with abundant biodiversity. Plants, animals, and amphibians of various sorts thrive in these densely forested environments.
The Western Ghats, which cover much of the Goan hinterland, are a famous birding and herping destination.
