Assam government has made covid testing compulsory for vaccinated people. An official order released by the government said that the state is withdrawing its earlier order that exempted mandatory COVID testing for fully vaccinated travellers arriving via air and train.
The decision was not earlier decided but taken after the cases of fully vaccinated people testing positive for the virus emerged in the state. The order was issued on Thursday by the Health and Family Welfare department which said that the earlier order of June 25, 2021, stands withdrawn with immediate effect. "Covid positivity is observed even in some of the person(s) who have received two doses of vaccination in a few instances"
They mentioned that each and every passenger arriving via train and flights continously, they have teams conducting covid tests on paasengers arriving from the airports and railway stations from outside in the state since the first wave of Covid-19 last year.
According to the National Health Mission, Assam has recorded 5,42,445 positive cases and 4937 deaths with an overall recovery rate of 95.32 percent.
