Rhythm Mamania, a 10-year-old champion skater from Worli, is one of the youngest Indian mountaineers to reach Nepal's Everest Base Camp.
Rhythm lacked proper training and had no coach, so he used to practise by jogging up and down the huge flight of steps near Shastri Garden at 5 a.m.
Low oxygen at 5364 metres above sea level, rough terrain, snow, and bitter cold could not break this brave girl's resolve. She began her adventure on April 25 and reached the Everest Base Camp (EBC) at about 1 p.m. on May 6, with her proud parents by her side.
"It was my goal to reach the EBC peak thus I did not care about the cold," Rhythm said of her success. I like sports. Yes, hailstones on sometimes were a novelty."
Urmi's mother went on to say that Rhythm is a national level skater, so her thigh muscles are great, but it is her drive and moral conscience that are noteworthy. She chose to climb down when others took helicopter rides down, and she also collected all of her trash and brought it back to Kathmandu rather than leaving it in the mountains to degrade for years, according to her mother.
This 11-day excursion was organised by Rishi Bhandari of Satori Adventures in Nepal. He also stated that he does not have a complete record of all people that summit EBC in terms of age and country. However, the majority are from India, particularly Mumbai and Maharashtra, with Rhythm being the youngest.
He went on to say that despite being nauseated and exhausted from the difficult hike, she did not complain. Another elderly breathless trekker had to be airlifted out, but Rhythm, he noted, was like a soldier who inspired others with her strength, fitness, vitality, and passion.
