Auckland Airport is the largest and most popular, located in the north of the North Island. Other major airports include Christchurch Airport and Wellington Airport.
By Land
Reaching New Zealand by land is possible, but there are a few things to take into account. New Zealand is located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, quite far from the mainland. The only way to get there is by sea or air.
The journey by sea is a long one. It takes about two weeks to sail from Los Angeles to Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand. There are a few different routes one can take, but the most popular is the so-called “Panama Route”. This route goes through the Panama Canal, which connects the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. The journey by air is much quicker. It only takes about eleven hours to fly from Los Angeles to Auckland. However, the price of a plane ticket is usually much higher than the price of a boat ticket.
Local transport
Public transport in New Zealand includes a variety of bus, train, ferry and taxi services. Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch are the only cities with metro rail systems.
Regional services are generally provided by bus, although some areas also have rail services. Many rural towns have bus services, although taxi services are often the only form of public transport available.
